How to Develop a Profitable Bitcoin & Altcoins Daytrading Strategy - Fundamental & Technical Analysis - An Intermediate Tutorial

Abstracted from my blog post. Read the Full Post at: http://alunacrypto.blogspot.nl/2014/03/how-to-bitcoin-altcoins-daytrading-fundamental-technical-analysis-profitable-trading-strategy.html. Follow me on Twitter for my latest Bitcoin/Altcoin trading advice @onemanatatime (https://twitter.com/onemanatatime).
Fundamental Analysis
I believe that for an Altcoin to be worth anything at all, it MUST first have technical aspects which are built with the future in mind. This is what solely determines if a cryptocurrency has the potential for the mid to long term. Even with 5 new altcoins launching everyday, you barely see 1 a month that can last even the mid-term.
Then, after that I judge the coins based on 7 mediating factors; developers, community, branding/marketing, popularity/virality, novelty, infrastructure, and liquidity. For more about fundamental analysis and an explanation of these factors, read up on the first few sections in my previous post about picking and trading the next profitable altcoin. In this post, I will focus more on technical analysis and trading strategies instead.
With so many coins out there, I like to use these above factors to weed out all the weaker shitcoins, and focus on altcoins which are substantially different from others, and more importantly, provide more value than other cryptocurrencies. After which, I use Technical Analysis to judge entry/exit positions for trading them.
What else do you think makes a cryptocurrency fundamentally better than another, and more sustainable as a currency?
Technical Analysis
Many will probably agree when I say that the Altcoins market is akin to the "penny stocks" of cryptocurrencies. In this sense, most altcoin markets have much lower liquidity, but have much higher volatility. Since there are over 200 different cryptocurrency markets to date, I prefer to narrow down my list of altcoins to a small handful, and buy under-valued coins or trade the breakouts. You're going to find it really tough to be watching more than 5 altcoins at the same time, so I highly suggest keeping your list small, and adapt your watchlist to the fast changing markets.
If you're new to technical analysis, here's a really good beginner's video on daytrading Penny Stocks, which also explains the basics of chart reading and an introduction to basic trading jargon that I'll be using throughout this post. The important concepts to take note of are resistances & supports, breakouts that coincide with high volume, and the general idea that "what goes up must come down". See video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYK2a77TjvU
So after you get the basics sorted out, you should be ready to learn how to trade! I'm gonna break this intermediate technical analysis tutorial down into five main portions, and have compiled videos from other trading experts to give even beginners a better overall idea, and teach you all you need to know to devise your own Bitcoin & Altcoins trading strategy.
1. Top Down Analysis
Firstly, lets look at the top down analysis method of reading charts. I always begin by trying to understand the market from a bird eye's view. Compare both charts from a long term period (e.g. 1d) against one from a shorter period (e.g. 15m) to get a holistic view of the market. This will help give you a general perspective of market trends, while peaks & troughs give you an idea of market resistances & supports.
Use these basic resistance & support levels to judge entry/exit prices. In general, previous high and low points are new resistances or support depending on where the price is, and points where u can see big breakouts will be the new short term resistance/support. To get a better idea of what I mean, watch these videos by Jason Stapleton who explains top down analysis, resistances & supports, and structure.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9yCc7lD21Q
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJmMU-8yicM
2. Retracements
The concept of retracements is, in my opinion, the most important one that any trading enthusiast must grasp in order to understand how the markets flow. In essence, a retracement is a temporary price movement against the established trend, and helps us understand that the markets move in wave patterns as highlighted by the Elliott Wave Theory. One way to look at it, as highlighted by this video below, is that most price-actions follow a pullback rule to fibonacci retracement levels (38%, 50%, 62%).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VSWqM0jfIQ
The most important concept to take away from this is "what goes up must come down"; that price movements in one direction are always followed by retracements in the opposite direction. Of course, not all movements will follow the same pullbacks, and these levels should only be used as a guide. Here's another video: "Understanding Fibonacci retracement lines: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzHjxPxGzMw".
So the question then is, how will we know if this counter-movement price action is a retracement or a reversal? There is no way to say for certain...
Read the full post on my blog at: http://alunacrypto.blogspot.nl/2014/03/how-to-bitcoin-altcoins-daytrading-fundamental-technical-analysis-profitable-trading-strategy.html.
3. Trading on Volume
Another important concept you need to understand is that large price movements almost always coincide with high trading volume.
With this in mind, this is where the liquidity of an altcoin also comes into play; the higher the trade volume of an altcoin, the lower the spreads, and the more likely you will be able to make some profitable trades from it. In general, the trade volume is a good indicator of, and is proportional to the popularity of the altcoin at the current time.
Apart from the actual trading volume itself, another good indicator is the change in volume over time; if you realize that the trading volume of an altcoin has been steadily increasing over the last few days, it could be an indication that a big price movement is coming up.
4. Breakout Patterns
The last concept I want to share is breakout patterns. Although most people are familiar with this concept, many do not know how to profit from them. This is one of the best tools to use for planning your entry positions, while there are various ways to do so, which are highlighted by these first two videos below:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6YZ4ORz-UJ0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gN-6D8nH0E
5. Advanced Trading Strategies
Now comes the fun part: how can we take all that we've learnt so far and put into good use for trading Bitcoin/Altcoins? Here are some pointers for you:
In the next videos, more advanced trading strategies and chart patterns will be shared. These strategies may seem very specific, but my goal is to give you better understanding of how these analysis tools are used, and to give you an idea of how different tools can be used to develop a single trading setup. The specifics are not important; what I hope to achieve is to open up your minds to new ideas, expand your trading knowledge, and ultimately encourage you to explore a diverse variety of trading strategies.

Development & Technical Discussion • Video: Python Bitcoin Tutorial for Beginners

submitted by btcforumbot to BtcForum [link] [comments]

Welcome. Feel free to ask questions, write tutorials, or post to technical information about Bitcoin on this sub-reddit.

I'd like to make this the "Dr.Dobb's Journal" of Bitcoin. With your help we can keep this sub-reddit active and maintained.
As it stands, I'm only learning about the technical aspects of bitcoin. But I think the best way to learn is to teach.
I'll be adding posts as I learn different aspects of the Technology, daily or so. Please feel free to do the same, or ask a question if you want to learn. Hopefully, I, or someone else can help.
To keep this sub-reddit active and maintained we need a critical mass of users. This means providing current and interesting information.
Your support in this matter is appreciated.

How to sell xBricks for money (self post for mod approval)

Preface
I've written this guide with those that are unfamiliar with crypto in mind, however it's still a lengthy process. I'm going to try to present this in a way where you don't have to learn how the underlying crypto technology works, but I will add in links to relevant concepts in case you're curious. This process was a lot more complicated before but I made a web interface to simplify it.
At the time of writing this, FortniteBR BRICKs are worth 10 cents a piece. That makes 1000 bricks worth 100 bucks. The liquidity pool is about $14,000 at the time of writing, meaning that there's room in the market for you to hypothetically get $7,000 if you had a lot of BRICKs.
If at any point throughout this process you need help, DM me!
Misc. Resources That Might Be Helpful
What you need
You will need:
Step 1: Setup
On your desktop computer, install MetaMask. This is an Ethereum Wallet which will allow you to interact with the Ethereum Network and its many sidechains. More on this later.
Follow the setup instructions in MetaMask. If you've never done this before, you'll need to create a new seed phrase. Video tutorial if you get stuck.
YOUR SEED PHRASE IS THE KEY TO YOUR WALLET. ANYONE WHO HAS ACCESS TO YOUR SEED PHRASE CAN TAKE YOUR FUNDS. IF YOU LOSE YOUR SEED PHRASE YOU HAVE NO WAY TO RECOVER YOUR FUNDS. WRITE IT DOWN AND STORE IT IN A SAFE PLACE!!! NEVER GIVE IT OUT TO ANYONE - ANYONE THAT ASKS FOR YOUR SEED PHRASE IS TRYING TO SCAM YOU! DON'T FALL FOR IT!
In the MetaMask interface, you'll see "Main Ethereum Network". This process uses two networks. One of them is the Rinkeby Testnet (where the BRICK tokens are natively) and one of them is the xDAI network which is where we will bridge the tokens to in order to exchange them for Dai, a token which is pegged to the price of the dollar.
From the dropdown, select Rinkeby Testnet. If you're in the assets tab, you should see a thing that shows your ETH balance. Below this, you should see an "add token" button. Click it. Go to "Custom Token" at the top. In "token contract address," paste in the following:
0xe0d8d7b8273de14e628d2f2a4a10f719f898450a
The other fields will autofill. Hit next. You'll now see your BRICK balance (which will be 0, you haven't transferred your bricks yet) in MetaMask if you've done everything right.
You'll need Rinkeby Ether to cover transaction fees. Since we're on a testnet, the Ether is worthless which means people hand it out for free. You can get this Ether from a variety of places:
Now it's time to get your BRICKs from your Reddit vault into your MetaMask wallet.
WARNING: ALL CRYPTO TRANSACTIONS ARE IRREVERSIBLE.
Your Ethereum address shows up under Rinkeby. It should be "0x" followed by a bunch of hex characters. Click on it to copy it to your clipboard. You now need to somehow get this to your mobile device. Email it to yourself, text it to yourself, whatever.
On your Reddit mobile app home screen, click on your profile icon and then go to vault. You'll need to set this up and claim your tokens if you haven't already. Be aware that this is also technically an Ethereum wallet. Keep your seed phrase safe.
Send however many BRICKs you want to sell to your MetaMask wallet. Check to make sure the addresses are the same, but don't worry too much about making a typo or whatever. The chances that you'd make a typo that would result in a valid Ethereum address are slim, if you get a character wrong it'll just tell you it's not a real Ethereum address and prevent you from sending.
It may show an error when you try to send. This is somewhat rare but pretty normal. They often run out of testnet Ether. Come back later and try again.
If it works properly, it'll take about a minute to go through. It may take longer than that.
Once the transaction goes through, you'll see that you have an absurd amount of BRICKs in MetaMask. No, there wasn't a glitch. The people who wrote the code for BRICKs made the decimals of precision weird for some reason. It's off by a factor of 1018. This isn't a big deal.
If you see Bricks and Ether (ETH) in your MetaMask wallet, proceed to the next step. If you're having issues, feel free to DM me.
Step 2: Getting Your BRICKs from Rinkeby to xDai
There's a LOT going on under the hood for this part (deets for those interested). Previously this required manually generating contract interactions, which is kind of a pain if you're new to Ethereum. I made a UI to make this easier (it generates the transactions for you, all you have to do is sign them with your wallet). This took way longer to do than you might guess, so feel free to help a homie out at:
0x4BCcC2569DD93C7dF43431A7b70db569dedB6187
Go to my tool. Hit connect. If you're on the Rinkeby network, it should show your balance in BRICKs. Enter the amount you want to bridge (probably all of them). If neither of us have made any mistakes, it should pop up with a request to spend your BRICKs. If there's any issue with this tool, DM me. This allows the TokenBridge contract to take your BRICKs and put them on the xDai network where you can sell them. This is the part where you'll get an error if you don't have any testnet ETH. Set the gas price to 1 (the suggested price is based on the Main Ethereum Network - it's way too high). After you approve that, it'll give you another thing to accept. This is the actual transaction where it'll bridge to xDai. Again, make sure the gas price is set to 1 and confirm the transaction.
Add xDai to MetaMask
Switch to the xDai network. We're going to add another token. Again, go to "add token" > "custom token" > "token contract address". Paste in:
0x2f9ceBf5De3bc25E0643D0E66134E5bf5c48e191
If the transactions have gone through, you should see your xBricks (the name for BRICKs that have been bridged to xDai) in MetaMask. If not, wait a bit for the transactions to go through. Sometimes there are slowdowns that cause bridging to take a while. Shouldn't take too long, though. Once that's done, you're ready for the next step.
Step 3: Trading Your xBricks for xDai
Go to Honeyswap. Hit "select a token." You'll need to paste in the xBrick address again. Here it is:
0x2f9ceBf5De3bc25E0643D0E66134E5bf5c48e191
Click xBrick.
You'll need to flipflop the trade around by hitting the arrow button. xBrick should be on top. Type in the amount of xBricks you want to sell, or hit max to sell all of them. 1 xDai = $1. You'll need to hit approve first. Set gas price to 1 again. Then you can complete the trade by hitting swap. After a bit, the xDai should show up in your wallet.
Step 4: Mainnet
Everything on Mainnet costs actual money to do. It costs about 50 cents to make a transaction and it costs about 3 bucks to use an exchange like the one we just used. If you don't have mainnet Ether, you won't be able to do anything with your mainnet Dai (what xDai is called when it's bridged back to the main Ethereum network). You may be able to find someone to lend you some ETH to make these transactions with. Whatever you do, just be aware.
If you still want to bridge your xDai into Dai, go here and make sure xDai is on the left. If it's not, go in the top right and select xDai chain. Enter the amount of xDai you want to bridge to mainnet and then hit transfer. Follow the prompts. This part may take up to an hour due to recent network congestion. After it's done, if you go back to Main Ethereum Network in MetaMask you should see your Dai.
If you have a few bucks of ETH, you can use UniSwap to convert your Dai to even more ETH. Uniswap tutorial

Tortuga: The lightweight, non-custodial, self-hosted payment gateway you've been waiting for!

I'm very pleased to announce the availability of my payment-gateway project: Tortuga.
Tortuga lets you sell a digital file for cryptocurrency. All you need to be able to do is run a docker container (I run mine on a little VPS from digital ocean).
Benefits:
Current Limitations:
Supported cryptocurrencies:
You can read more about it at https://github.com/unyieldinggrace/tortuga
The deployment instructions on the github page should be sufficient for technical users. I'll try to make time to write a step-by-step setup tutorial on read.cash at some stage (or if someone else wants to do it, that might be a good way to score tips!).
Motivation:
I made this payment gateway for idealistic reasons. I wrote a book called Taxation is Slavery: The Biblical Case for Libertarian Politics. Among many other things, this book argues that fiat money-printing is a form of immoral counterfeiting, and that we should attempt to secede from the fiat power structures by using cryptocurrency. To live that out, I was determined to find a way to sell the book directly to readers, completely peer-to-peer. In this way, I'm helping to "close the loop". I'm giving people something good to spend their (crypto) money on, without either them or me ever having to convert it to fiat.
The book also includes a brief sub-chapter on how the very existence of Bitcoin should force many Christians to re-evaluate the way they understand Jesus' statement about "giving to Ceasar what is Caesar's". Bitcoin has no president or king's face on it. There is no engraving of any Caesar. Thinking this through might be of interest to many Bitcoin fans :)
Ready to see it in action?
You can test out the payment gateway by seeing how I use it on my own site. Just click one of the crypto checkout buttons at https://beingbiblical.com/books/taxation-is-slavery

7 Exceptional WordPress Hosting Providers Tested By Experts

7 Exceptional WordPress Hosting Providers Tested By Experts
Regardless of what business you have, setting up your very own website is the first thing to do when building your brand. For this, WordPress has always been the number one choice, but other than that, you would also need a host site, which can be very challenging.
So, we have surfed the internet for you and found the seven exceptional WordPress Hosting Providers that experts would recommend:
1. Bluehost
First on our list is Bluehost, a web hosting company founded by Matt Heaton and Danny Ashworth. It offers a lot of great tools, bonuses, and resources that their customers love. There’s unlimited email, unlimited storage, 24/7 customer support, and high-uptime, to name a few.
Bluehost is usually the number one recommended because of the easy WordPress installation it provides. You would only need to create an account, and inside, you would already see a free one-click WordPress installation regardless of what plan you chose - no code required.
There are tutorials available inside that will provide you all the insights you need about the platform. And if you can’t get it, you can always ask for help from their excellent customer support.
2. HostGator
The next web hosting provider on our list is HostGator. It’s a Houston-based provider with over 8 million domains. Like with the Bluehost, HostGator also offers a one-click WordPress installation, making it easier for non-code experts to set up their site.
But other than that, there are more things that customers love with HostGator:
Probably the only downside is that there is no free domain registration when you sign-up. Hostgator can also be aggressive in terms of their upselling. All-in-all, if this is something you don’t mind, there is certainly no wonder why this hosting provider is one of the top.
3. Hostinger
Our third web hosting provider is Hostinger, which is one of the cheapest shared hosting providers on the market. And if you opt for the premium and business plans, you can get unlimited features such as bandwidth, storage, and databases.
The greatest advantage Hostinger gives to its users is an amazing speed. Though the up-time tends to be inconsistent, the average has always been strong. Customer service is incredible, too, as they have friendly, knowledgeable, and multilingual support.
4. WpHostsell
WpHostsell is the next web hosting provider on our list. It’s one of the best out there, especially when it comes to hosting sites made on WordPress.
WpHostsell won’t let you fail with its high uptime and fast speed when it comes to performance. It also has impressive 24/7 customer support in case you encounter problems. It’s also very beginner-friendly for those who are not familiar with the technical side of website development.
If you need unlimited traffic, it’s good news that WpHostsell won’t cap your traffic. You won’t also be afraid of essential data lost as there are back-ups. Plus, they’ve got loads of WordPress features ready to be used.
You can buy domain and hosting with Bitcoin from WpHostsell.com
5. A2 Hosting
A2 Hosting is another web hosting provider that prides themselves on their high performance and excellent speed. Their technical support is also amazing in case you would encounter problems in their platform.
This web hosting provider offers awesome features which include:
All of which can be found in other top hosting providers. It’s also great in terms of flexibility to support whatever tools and products you’ve chosen for your web hosting plan. However, it may not be great for beginners who don’t have background knowledge on website development.
6. GreenGeeks
Next, we have GreenGeeks, a website hosting provider founded by Trey Gardner. Gardner has worked with seven different web hosting companies before founding this platform, and this might have contributed a lot to how he built this company.
The host site is known for its high performance, fast speed, and excellent customer support. They also offer a free domain name and website migration. And for those who love supporting the environment, GreenGeeks is environmentally-friendly.
How? The site is said to be replacing more than 615 thousand kWh a year and is also recognized as a Green Power Partner of the US EPA.
7. InMotion
Last on our list is InMotion. This hosting provider has been one of the best web hosting providers known by a lot of people. It prides itself on its high performance, fast speed, and impressive customer support. But one of their greatest advantages is the multiple service approach.
InMotion offers several plans depending on the size of your business. So as you scale for growth, you can upgrade easily without any problems.
One reason customers or clients would click out of your website is if it’s slow. So, you must optimize your WordPress site for its speed. One way to do this is by choosing a good host site. With these seven hosting providers on our list, WordPress speed optimization will be assured on your end, and you will be able to drive more traffic and create more conversions.

[ANN][ANDROID MINING][AIRDROP] NewEnglandcoin: Scrypt RandomSpike

New England
New England 6 States Songs: https://www.reddit.com/newengland/comments/er8wxd/new_england_6_states_songs/
NewEnglandcoin
Symbol: NENG
NewEnglandcoin is a clone of Bitcoin using scrypt as a proof-of-work algorithm with enhanced features to protect against 51% attack and decentralize on mining to allow diversified mining rigs across CPUs, GPUs, ASICs and Android phones.
Mining Algorithm: Scrypt with RandomSpike. RandomSpike is 3rd generation of Dynamic Difficulty (DynDiff) algorithm on top of scrypt.
1 minute block targets base difficulty reset: every 1440 blocks subsidy halves in 2.1m blocks (~ 2 to 4 years) 84,000,000,000 total maximum NENG 20000 NENG per block Pre-mine: 1% - reserved for dev fund ICO: None RPCPort: 6376 Port: 6377
NewEnglandcoin has dogecoin like supply at 84 billion maximum NENG. This huge supply insures that NENG is suitable for retail transactions and daily use. The inflation schedule of NengEnglandcoin is actually identical to that of Litecoin. Bitcoin and Litecoin are already proven to be great long term store of value. The Litecoin-like NENG inflation schedule will make NewEnglandcoin ideal for long term investment appreciation as the supply is limited and capped at a fixed number
Bitcoin Fork - Suitable for Home Hobbyists
NewEnglandcoin core wallet continues to maintain version tag of "Satoshi v0.8.7.5" because NewEnglandcoin is very much an exact clone of bitcoin plus some mining feature changes with DynDiff algorithm. NewEnglandcoin is very suitable as lite version of bitcoin for educational purpose on desktop mining, full node running and bitcoin programming using bitcoin-json APIs.
The NewEnglandcoin (NENG) mining algorithm original upgrade ideas were mainly designed for decentralization of mining rigs on scrypt, which is same algo as litecoin/dogecoin. The way it is going now is that NENG is very suitable for bitcoin/litecoin/dogecoin hobbyists who can not , will not spend huge money to run noisy ASIC/GPU mining equipments, but still want to mine NENG at home with quiet simple CPU/GPU or with a cheap ASIC like FutureBit Moonlander 2 USB or Apollo pod on solo mining setup to obtain very decent profitable results. NENG allows bitcoin litecoin hobbyists to experience full node running, solo mining, CPU/GPU/ASIC for a fun experience at home at cheap cost without breaking bank on equipment or electricity.

CPU Minable Coin Because of dynamic difficulty algorithm on top of scrypt, NewEnglandcoin is CPU Minable. Users can easily set up full node for mining at Home PC or Mac using our dedicated cheetah software.
Research on the first forked 50 blocks on v1.2.0 core confirmed that ASIC/GPU miners mined 66% of 50 blocks, CPU miners mined the remaining 34%.
NENG v1.4.0 release enabled CPU mining inside android phones.

Decentralization and Community Driven NewEnglandcoin is a decentralized coin just like bitcoin. There is no boss on NewEnglandcoin. Nobody nor the dev owns NENG.
We know a coin is worth nothing if there is no backing from community. Therefore, we as dev do not intend to make decision on this coin solely by ourselves. It is our expectation that NewEnglandcoin community will make majority of decisions on direction of this coin from now on. We as dev merely view our-self as coin creater and technical support of this coin while providing NENG a permanent home at ShorelineCrypto Exchange.

ASIC/GPU Mining Pools Warning to Big ASIC Miners Due to DynDiff Algo on top of Scrypt, solo mining is recommended for ASIC/GPU miners. Further more, even for mining pools, small mining pool will generate better performance than big NENG mining pool because of new algo v1.2.x post hard fork.
The set up configuration of NENG for scrypt pool mining is same as a typical normal scrypt coin. In other word, DynDiff on Scrypt algo is backward compatible with Scrypt algo. Because ASIC/GPU miners rely on CPU miners for smooth blockchain movement, checkout bottom of "Latest News" section for A WARNING to All ASIC miners before you decide to dump big ASIC hash rate into NENG mining.
(1) Original DynDiff Warning: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5027091.msg48324708#msg48324708 (2) New Warning on RandomSpike Spike difficulty (244k) introduced in RandomSpike served as roadblocks to instant mining and provide security against 51% attack risk. However, this spike difficulty like a roadblock that makes big ASIC mining less profitable. In case of spike block to be mined, the spike difficulty immediately serve as base difficulty, which will block GPU/ASIC miners effectively and leave CPU cheetah solo miners dominating mining almost 100% until next base difficulty reset.
